Fancy an action comedy this summer? Prime Video, the streaming platform of the giant Amazon, offers to discover the latest production by Paul Feig (Spy, My Best Friends…). From August 15, comes out Jackpotnot to be confused with the romantic comedy starring Cameron Diaz and Ashton Kutcher released in 2008.

In this Jackpot 2024 version, the plot takes place in the near future, where a Californian lottery turns out to be deadly: it is possible to kill the winner to legally claim their winnings, which are several billion dollars, provided you do so before sunset. Awkwafina (Shang Chi) plays a woman who has just arrived in Los Angeles and accidentally ends up with the winning ticket, and is therefore pursued by jackpot hunters. She will receive help from a protection agent, Noel (John Cena), who will have to keep her alive until the end of the day. For the occasion, a duo of Shang-Chi is reforming, as Awkwafina also stars opposite Simu Liu, who plays the title role in the Marvel film.

In the near future, a massive lottery has been created in California. The winner must be killed before sunset to legally claim the multi-billion dollar jackpot. Katie accidentally ends up with the winning ticket. Desperate to survive the hordes of jackpot hunters, she reluctantly teams up with a protection agent, Noel Cassidy, who will do anything in his power to help her.
