This series, which always gets people talking each time it’s released, is back for a new season on Netflix.
There are series that are considered guilty pleasures, that is to say that despite their sometimes undeniable qualities, we are a little ashamed to love them, or we like to watch them to criticize (sometimes a little gratuitously). One of them, acclaimed and adored as much as it can irritate, is coming back very soon to streaming and will undoubtedly create the event on Netflix.
When it is released in December 2021, Emily in Paris had a resounding effect: Netflix subscribers were not left indifferent by the adventures of this American who moves to the French capital and discovers the culture clash between the USA and France. Between professional and romantic setbacks, the series carried by Lily Collins, Philippine Leroy-Beaulieu, Ashley Park and Lucas Bravo fascinates.
Acclaimed in the United States, the series received a more lukewarm reception in France, both from the press and from some of the public, due to the stereotypes it conveys in its representation of Paris. When its first season came out, many montages and memes were created, and Internet users had fun with the clichés. According to Les Inrocks, Emily in Paris was even “designed to be loved to hate.”
In any case, the success of Emily’s adventures in Paris is undeniable, the series having been nominated for the Golden Globes in 2021 and having remained in the top of the most watched programs. Enough to ensure it has sequels, since a season 4 is to be discovered during the summer. In this one, the impossible romance between Gabriel and Emily continues to be exploited, while changes and secrets once again come to upset their little world.
Season 4 ofEmily in Paris is split into two parts, like most of Netflix’s new hit productions in recent years. The first five episodes will be released online on August 15, 2024. To watch the last five episodes, however, you will have to wait a little less than a month: the streaming platform will release them online on September 12. The first three seasons are also available in their entirety on Netflix.
