Ryan Murphy’s horror creation American Horror Story has been scaring series fans for over a decade and will start its 13th season next year. The successful series producer, who was also responsible for the Netflix hits The Watcher and Dahmer – Monster: The Story of Jeffrey Dahmer, is returning to the horror genre with his next project.
Until now, there has been little information about the mysterious series project Grotesquerie, in which Dahmer star Niecy Nash-Betts is seen as the main actress. Now there is not only first details about the plot of the horror seriesbut also an approaching release date, as THR, among others, reports.
Grotesquerie: That’s what the American Horror Story sequel is about
In Grotesquerie, a Series of cruel and heinous crimes a small American town. Detective Lois Tryon (Niecy Nash-Betts) investigates the cases, all of which seem strangely personal. Is someone – or something – out to get her? Lois fears that humanity is completely succumbing to evil. Fortunately, a voice of hope enters her life: the nun and reporter Sister Megan (Micaela Diamond), who supports her in the investigation.
According to the official plot description, Sister Megan has experienced unimaginable horror herself, but has not lost faith in the good in people. Together, the unlikely duo sets out to search for clues, and the case increasingly dark and mysterious becomes.

It is not yet known what kind of terrible crimes are actually involved. Nor is it known whether we can expect supernatural horrors like in American Horror Story. However, the first plot details and the poster suggest that religion and faith play an important role in the new horror nightmare.
The series was developed and written jointly by Ryan Murphy, Jon Robin Baitz (Feud: Capote vs. The Swans) and Joe Backen (American Horror Stories). The cast also includes Courtney B. Vance, Lesley Manville and football star and Taylor Swift’s better half Travis Kelce.
When does the horror series Grotesquerie start?
Horror fans don’t have to wait long. Grotesquerie starts on 25 September 2024 in the USA on the channel FX and includes 10 episodes that appear weekly. In Germany, the series will be available on the streaming service Disney+. However, a specific start date has not yet been set.
Grotesquerie is not the only Ryan Murphy series that will be launched soon. The busy TV producer is also behind the upcoming US reboots American Sports Story, Dr. Odyssey and new seasons of the disaster series 9-11 and 9-1-1: Lone Star. In addition, the hotly anticipated Dahmer sequel Monster: The Lyle and Erik Menendez Story is coming to Netflix this fall.
