The 2024 Vuelta will start for the second time in its history from Portugal.
After the coronation of Sepp Kuss, faithful lieutenant within the Jumbo Visma in 2023, who will be the king of the Vuelta in 2024? Primoz Roglic (Red Bull – BORA – hansgrohe) will start this Vuelta this Saturday in Lisbon and is the big favorite. The Slovenian, who had to abandon the Tour de France due to several falls, is the winner of three consecutive editions of between 2019 and 2021. He will be supported by Daniel Felipe Martínez and Aleksandr Vlasov within his formation.
This edition promises to be spectacular because the Vuelta 2024 route is particularly mountainous. This year, the organizers have let loose by putting in nine mountain stages, including seven summit finishes. This Tour of Spain will also feature two individual time trials, one for the opening of 12 km and one in Madrid for the closing of 22 km, as in the Tour de France.
Among the favorites and big names of this Vuelta apart from Primoz Roglic, Almeida and Adam Yates were announced as leaders of the UAE team. Enric Mas, Antonio Tiberi, David Gaudu, Mikel Landa, Carlos Rodriguez, Ben Tulett, Guillaume Martin, Mattias Sjkelmose, Guilio Ciccone, Richard Carapaz, Cian Ujitdebroecks and Sepp Kuss at Visma, the defending champion, his to follow.
