GameIndustry.biz’s head of games, Christopher Dring, shared some new information about the next Nintendo console on the latest episode of GI Microcast. “No developer I’ve spoken to is expecting it to launch this fiscal year, in fact they’ve been told not to,” Dring said. This statement confirms rumors that the Nintendo Switch 2 won’t be released in fiscal year 2025. However, according to Dring, some developers are hoping for a console release in April or May 2025.
While a launch is not scheduled for the fiscal year, it is expected that the console will be officially revealed during this period. Nintendo’s fiscal year runs from April 1 to March 31, meaning the console could be revealed in fiscal year 2025, but its release could be delayed until later.
Nintendo has yet to officially comment on these rumors.
