“In space, no one can hear you scream“. The sentence used to advertise the sci-fi horror Alien over 40 years ago is as effective as it is wrong. After all, billions of genre fans have since witnessed the desperate fight of Ellen Ripley & Co. against the worst horror in space. In a few days the series will continue with Alien: Romulus in cinemas.
Sci-Fi horror in the cinema: New alien film returns to the roots
Alien: Romulus revolves around a group of friends, including young Rain (Cailee Spaeny). To escape from their gloomy home planet, they want to plunder an abandoned space station in orbit. And meet a gruesome creature there, that seeks their lives.

Director Fede Álvarez (Don’t Breathe) breaks new ground with Romulus, but also returns to the roots of the franchise: The prequel perspective from Prometheus and Alien: Covenant, which continued the series as the last film in 2017, is officially a thing of the past with Romulus.
Romulus takes place between the 1979 Alien original and its action sequel Aliens: The Return. Fans will soon be able to find out for themselves how many references to the first film can be found in the film.
When will Alien: Romulus be released in theaters?
Alien: Romulus will be released in theaters on August 15, 2024. In addition to Cailee Spaeny, Archie Renaux (Shadow and Bone) and Isabela Merced (Madame Web) will also be seen in front of the camera.
