Complaints about ice cream, an indispensable product of the summer months, have increased. The Turkish Standards Institution (TSE) has taken action to prevent grievances. Quality standards for ice cream have been updated. The aim of the regulation is to prevent cost games by ice cream makers who claim to sell fruit ice cream but use flavors.
TSE BLOCKED THE AROMA GAME!
New regulation came to misleading statements on ice cream packages. TSE, which prevents the flavor game, decided that ice creams should contain at least a percentage of fruit.
Speaking to ATV Main News regarding the issue, TÜKONFED Food Control Expert Nurten Sırma said, “There are various complaints from consumers about ice cream. Various regulations have been made regarding the fruit and vegetable ratio to be used in ice cream. It will be at least a percentage by mass. If hard-shelled fruits are to be added to the ice cream, it is envisaged that it will be a percentage by mass. This is one of the regulations made in order to avoid too much confusion in the market in terms of cost.”
