The heat recedes making way for stormy weather this Tuesday

After a very hot Monday, temperatures begin to drop this Tuesday and give way to thunderstorms.

The heat wave reached its peak this Monday over a large part of the country. 40 departments had been placed on orange heatwave alert. This Tuesday, according to Météo-Francethere are finally only nine left: Ain, Alpes-Maritimes, Corse-du-Sud, Drôme, Haute-Corse, Haute-Savoie, Isère, Rhône and Savoie. Temperatures are therefore dropping this Tuesday across almost the entire territory. In particular, they should not exceed 30 degrees in Paris compared to 36 the day before. However, the heat persists in the south-eastern quarter with temperatures around 35 degrees.

However, a stormy deterioration is looming. 7 departments are on orange alert: Allier, Loire, Aveyron, Tarn, Cantal, Haute-Loire, Puy-de-Dôme. The storms will arrive from the beginning of the afternoon on the Massif Central.

Météo-France warning of “strong thunderstorms, accompanied by intense precipitation, hail, gusts and significant electrical activity”. Gusts of up to 100 km/h are expected. In the rest of the country, occasional showers are expected, particularly from the west of the Pyrenees to Hauts-de-France.

A sunny weekend

On Wednesday, only three departments will be on orange heatwave alert, the Alpes-Maritimes and the two departments of Corsica. Temperatures will also continue to drop.
