Four days after the inauguration on Thursday 8 August of the socialist Salvador Illa, a close friend of Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez, as President of Catalonia, the new government has taken office in the region. For Catalonia, this marks the end of 14 years of power by the pro-independence movement.
