A new game on Steam comes from the makers of The First Descendant, will be a brutal Soulslike set in the Middle Ages

The Nexon team is not only a developer, but also a publisher. In addition to The First Descendant, the studio is currently working on the release of The First Berserker: Khazan on Steam. This time we are not dealing with a shooter, but with a brutal Soulslike.

What is The First Berserker: Khazan? Although the name is similar to Nexon’s current hit, the game comes from developer Neople. In the title, we take on the role of Khazan, a former general.

  • Khazan and his friend Ozma, the most powerful magician of all time, defeat the dragon Hismar. After their victory, the two are revered as folk heroes.
  • The emperor becomes jealous of the two and accuses them of treason. Ozma is killed, while Khazan is banished to the icy mountains.
  • Khazan therefore embarks on a campaign of revenge to eliminate his enemies.

    • As is usual in a role-playing game, we can equip Khazan with different pieces of equipment. The items have different bonuses that strengthen the protagonist. There will also be several types of weapons and character skills.

    The gameplay is a typical Soulslike. We encounter tough enemies and bosses whose tactics we have to know. This way we can parry or dodge attacks at the right moment.

    When will the title be released? The publisher and the development team have announced a release date for 2025. A further date will probably be announced in the coming months.

    Which platforms will the game be available for? The First Berserker: Khazan will be released for PC via Steam, PS5 and Xbox Series X|S.

    Is there a German voice output? Unfortunately, The First Berserker: Khazan will not have a German voice-over, only German texts and subtitles. Instead, players can choose between English, Japanese, Chinese or Korean voice-overs.

    What does the gameplay look like? In another YouTube video about the game, those responsible show 15 minutes of gameplay. In it, we see the beginning after Khazan has been banished to the snow-covered mountains. Khazan first fights against some guards before encountering a yeti-like creature.

    What is striking about the gameplay is that the developers didn’t skimp on blood. After the hits and especially in the intro, there is so much red lifeblood to be seen that we wonder how the hero was able to get so far without a blood donation.
