    The US is sending an aircraft carrier and a robotic submarine to the Middle East to show support for Israel, as tensions in the region rise.

    It is about the robotic submarine USS Georgia, US Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin stated in a conversation with his Israeli counterpart Yoav Gallant on Sunday.

    In addition, the aircraft carrier USS Abraham Lincoln, which is equipped with F35 fighter jets and is already on its way to the area, is to “accelerate its transit”.

    The show of support comes after tensions rose in the region. Iran and Iran-backed Hezbollah in Lebanon have vowed revenge after Hamas’ top political chief Ismail Haniya and Hezbollah commander Fuad Shukr were killed last month.

    According to Pentagon spokesman Pat Ryder, the two defense ministers discussed, among other things, the “importance of mitigating civilian casualties” in Gaza and efforts to deter further aggression from Iran and Hezbollah.
