Summer’s scourge: The insects that get into the home

News24 have previously written about the insects that disturb during the summer months. An example of this is wasps, which like to build their nests on house knots or under the roof of your house.

If they smell food or sweet perfume, they can be lured into your home, where they can poke if they feel crowded.

In order to avoid the collision with the summer wasp heat, Anticimex has therefore compiled some tips that secure your house from being filled with wasp nests.

Among other things, house owners are recommended to put insect nets and ventilation grilles, as well as to plug up twig holes and other entrances to the house.

How do I get mealybugs?

Another insect that is interested in your food is mealybugs. During the summer, the beetle can fly in through your window, but the most common way is actually to let the creep in yourself – without you knowing about it.

The flour beetles can be found in dry food that we put in the pantry. There they can then multiply and spread to other packages.

So how do you actually get rid of the unwelcome guests in the pantry?

Yes, it has Anticimex keep an eye on. To help you along the way, they have compiled a list of advice to get rid of mealybugs.

  • Empty cupboards and drawers and remove any shelf paper.
  • Clean drawers and shelves thoroughly. Use a vacuum cleaner.
  • Examine all items before returning them to the pantry.
  • Throw away infested goods. Before discarding, they should be frozen for one week, or heated to more than 55°C for one hour. If you don’t do that, the rams can spread.
  • Throw away the vacuum cleaner bag afterwards. It should also be frozen for a week before being thrown away.
