Handball: Denmark after the final defeat: “Toughest match against Sweden”

– Clearly, the toughest match was against Sweden, who pushed us incredibly hard. Sweden has one of the world’s best teams and when you look back at the tournament, that match was the hardest physically that we played, says Simon Pytlick to SVT Sport.

In the final seconds of the quarter-final, which ended 32-31, three Danish players were in their own goal yard when Oscar Bergendahl shot and Danish goalkeeper Emil Nielsen saved.

  • – Scandal that you don’t video check it, said SVT’s expert Mikaela Mässing about the incident.

Now Mikkel Hansen quits. What does this mean?

    – I am at a loss for words and cannot really describe his significance. In my eyes, he is the greatest, says Pytlick about the driver.

36-year-old Hansen has been named the world’s best handball player three times. Since his national team debut in 2008, he has been involved in bringing home twelve international medals for Denmark (EC, WC and Olympics).

Rasmus Lauge fills in to pay tribute to Hansen.

    – What has he not meant? It is the biggest legend we have in Denmark. He has meant everything to this team.
