Kayaker found dead in Lake Erie near Turkey Point: Norfolk OPP

Norfolk OPP are seeking the public’s help to identify a kayaker whose body was found in Lake Erie near Turkey Point on Saturday night.

Police and paramedics responded at shortly after 7 pm to a report of an unresponsive kayaker in the lake.

“A civilian spotted an unresponsive individual floating in the water approximately half a kilometer from Turkey Point Marina in Turkey Point,” said a media release from OPP Const. Andrew Gamble.

The kayaker, described as a man in his 50s, was pronounced deceased after being brought to shore by the Canadian Coast Guard.

A yellow and black Folbot model kayak was found about 400 meters from the location where the man’s body was found, police said.

The investigation is ongoing and police are asking the public for assistance in identifying the man. Anyone with information is urged to contact the police at 1-888-310-1122.
