Iran’s president appointed today Abbas Araghchin as the country’s new foreign minister.
Characterized as pragmatic, Araghch was Iran’s chief negotiator during Tehran’s negotiations with foreign powers about the country’s nuclear program in 2013-2021.
At the time, Araghchi was considered the second most powerful official in Iran’s foreign ministry after the minister.
A reformist won the Iranian presidential election in July Masud Pezeškian.
