A second workplace death has taken place in Brantford in as many weeks as the government confirmed Friday that a worker died at the construction of the new Barry Callebaut chocolate factory.

The worker was in the electrical room of the new Bowery Road build on Aug. 6, according to the Ministry of Labour, Immigration, Training and Skills Development, which is now investigating the incident.
The ministry did not respond to a report from another source saying the worker was electrocuted.
The death follows on the heels of an employee from Erie Garage Doors and Ultimate Roofing Systems who fell from the roof of manufacturer, Konstant, on July 25.
That incident remains under investigation by the ministry as well, but the ministry has already issued orders to each of the contractors and to Konstant, which has about 180 employees at its Adams Boulevard racking plant.
Konstant president Randy Wronzberg said his firm was cooperating fully with the ministry investigation, noting the death was traumatic for all staff.
In the Barry Callebaut fatality, two Ministry of Labor investigators have been assigned to examine the incident and that investigation is ongoing.
Emails to Barry Callebaut’s North American communications department were not returned by time of publication.
