They raced towards their second straight set win and Olympic gold. The second set was reasonably more even, but even so the Germans did not have the lead on a single occasion during the final. Åhman/Hellvig won the second set, after a crazy match point, with 21–13 and secured the Olympic gold in the Olympic debut.
– Fantastic, it’s absolutely crazy!, says Hellvig in Max.
– It is completely indescribable, we are playing such a damn good match today. We play incredibly well and enjoy every second. Damn we did it! You just try to focus on the match and not let in thoughts that you are leading, says Åhman.
