It is delicious and refreshing.

Difficult digestion, bloating, constipation, diarrhea… These inconveniences are common during the holidays and can quickly ruin our moments of relaxation. Indeed, it is not always easy to maintain intestinal health during the summer. We often change our rhythm, our eating habits are no longer the same, sleep and hydration can be lacking. Thus, we often find ourselves in front of our plate without knowing which foods to favor to relieve ourselves. To remedy this, an American gastroenterologist reveals the anti-bloating fruit to eat this summer.

Dr. Joseph Salhab, gastroenterologist, advises in a video on his TikTok account to eat more fruits rich in fiber and vitamin C. “It has been shown to increase good gut bacteria for optimal gastrointestinal health”explains the specialist. He cites in particular a study published in 2022 that examines the effect of vitamin C on the human microbiome. According to the researchers, vitamin C significantly increases the presence of good bacteria called “Bifidobacterium”. These are known for their benefits on overall health and on improving the composition of the gut microbiome. Since bloating can be caused by a buildup of gas in the intestines, indigestion, the presence of harmful bacteria or yeast in the intestines, bifidobacterium bacteria will be ideal for relieving symptoms. They also help treat diarrhea and constipation. In which fruit can you find these good bacteria?

The gastroenterologist advises eating blueberries. Refreshing and slightly acidic, summer is the ideal time to enjoy them since their season runs from July to September. Blueberries are a real health ally, they are antioxidant, appetite suppressant, diuretic but also antidiarrheal. In addition to their beneficial vitamin C content, blueberries are rich in fiber, also recommended by Dr. Salhab because they regulate the intestines.Handles recommends that adults eat around 30g of fibre per day for good gut health.

It is possible to favor fruits rich in fiber and vitamin C outside the summer period. To reduce bloating all year round, the expert recommends dates, dragon fruit, kiwi, guava and pineapple.
