Staff member Liana suggests The School for Invisible Boys by Shaun David Hutchinson. This book is perfect for preteens facing bullying and fitting in at school and home. The story follows sixth-grader Hector, who sometimes feels it’s better to fade away when dealing with hardships, but what happens if he actually disappears? This perfectly paced genre mashup combines a contemporary private school setting with paranormal elements like invisibility, ghosts, and a not-so-nice monster.

Teen readers have been submitting fantastic book reviews in the Library Summer Reading program. Isabelle praises Scarlet by Marissa Meyer, writing, “Scarlet is part of an amazing series. The main character is so lovable and one of my favorites due to her determination and stubbornness. The plotline is unpredictable and based on the classic fairytale Little Red Riding Hood. This book is highlighted by romance, humor, fantasy, and adventure!”

Adult summer readers have also submitted hundreds of reading recommendations. Diane explored a new genre by reviewing the fantasy novel A Court of Thorns and Roses by Sarah J. Maas. She writes, “I did not expect to enjoy this book as much as I did. While not the typical genre I read, I quickly became enthralled and couldn’t put it down. I will definitely be reading the rest of the series.”

Biography readers will love Chris’s selection of You Never Know by actor Tom Selleck. “Tom Selleck ended up with an illustrious career with two outstanding roles on Magnum PI and Blue Bloodsalong with other roles. The story begins on a basketball court in university and morphs accidentally into the acting world. Along the way, he shares his personal stories and his journey to discover himself in the illustrious world of Hollywood. Read this intimate memoir and learn about one of our beloved actors of today.”
