Varshan drops some of the best items – How to summon & defeat him

In Diablo 4, you can summon some of the toughest bosses in the game with the right materials. One of them is Varshan, from whom you can get certain unique items. Here you can find out everything about the location, the loot drops and how to summon and defeat the boss.

How to summon Varshan: You can find Varshan on world levels 3 and 4 in his “Maleficent Den” at the Whispering Tree in Hawezar. Since Season 5 in Diablo 4, to summon him you only need one of his body parts:

  • World Tier 3: 2 Evil Hearts
  • World Tier 4: 5 Wicked Hearts

    • Where can I get Wicked Hearts? The mats you need for the bosses drop in almost all endgame activities. Depending on which content you like to do, you basically farm the hearts “on the side”, including from events, treasure goblins, hellbloods, blood maidens and whisper chests.

  • For the “Tormented” version of Varshan, you need three times the amount of hearts and a Stygian Stone, which you get in the Pit and in the Hell Hordes at higher levels. In return, Varshan drops a lot more loot.

    • What level is Varshan? Varshan is level 55 on world level 3 and level 75 on world level 4. The enemies that await you in the villain’s den are also at this level. There you will mostly encounter snake charmers and snake cultists.

    Despite his strong build, Varshan can be a tough nut to crack – especially in the “Tormented” version at level 200. We’ll show you what you should pay attention to in order to emerge victorious.

    Defeating Varshan: Tips for the fight

    How do I prepare? First, you need a good build to have a chance against the boss, even if he is only level 75. Here you can find a tier list with the strongest builds in the endgame of Diablo 4. The more damage you do, the less time the boss has to attack you.

    Because Varshan mainly does shadow damage, you should also make sure that your resistances are at least 70%. If that is not the case, stock up on potions to increase the value. Alternatively, a potion that increases your armor will help you if you have not yet reached the cap.

    What do I have to watch out for? Varshan uses three attacks in battle. He attacks you with his tentacle-like guts and throws foul projectiles at you. It’s best to jump behind the boss when doing this. If he hits you, he restores his barrier.

    Varshan covers the ground with rot, causing several areas to glow pink and explode. Be careful not to stand in the areas. The boss also summons 3 servants from which Varshan absorbs power. First kill the servant Varshan absorbs from, then the other two. If Varshan manages to absorb the power, he will receive dangerous buffs.

    What loot does Varshan drop? At Varshan you have a chance to get various uniques for all classes:

  • All classes: Frostburn, Mother’s Embrace
  • Barbarians: Crimson Fields, 100,000 Steps, Gohr’s Crushing Grasps, Ring of Red Fury
  • Wizard: Staff of Endless Wrath, Esu’s Heirloom, Garb of the Infinite, Tal Rasha’s Iridescent Circlet
  • Druids: Mad Wolf’s Delight, Vasily’s Prayer, Hag’s Greatstaff, Airidah’s Relentless Will
  • Hunters: Condemnation, Eyes in the Dark, Sky Hunter, Twisting Band of Deception
  • Necromancer: Bloodless Scream, Immortal Visage, Deathspeaker’s Pendant, Ring of the Soul of Sacrilege
