Faker hits his head against the wall 5 times after defeat against arch rivals – fans send lots of love to their idol

In LoL, a worrying clip has a sequel. South Korean star player Lee “Faker” Sang-hyeok lost a game against his arch-enemies from GenG. The League of Legends star apparently couldn’t handle the defeat and banged his head against a wall several times out of frustration. Fans are worried about their idol and are sending him lots of love.

This is the situation with T1 and GenG:

  • T1 is the most popular team in the world. Faker is the iconic star of T1, who LoL players have known and admired for more than a decade. But even though T1 is so strong internationally, there is a team in Korea that is considered their arch-rival and with whom they have been at loggerheads for years: GenG.
  • GenG has been the top national rival of Faker’s team, T1, for many years. They were also the ones, back then as Samsung Galaxy, who inflicted the bitter defeat on Faker at Worlds in 2017, after which Faker burst into tears.
  • Since 2022, T1 has finished second behind Gen G 6 times in the regular season and playoffs. T1 has only triumphed over them 3 times (via lol.fandom)
  • GenG is once again extremely strong in 2024. They lead the Summer Split in South Korea with 15-0. T1 is in fourth place with 8-6. GenG has always brought in the best Korean players and this year they seem to be even stronger than in previous years.

Faker is considered an iconic LoL player who became world champion in 2023, but this year GenG seems to be unbeatable:

Faker hits his head against a wall, scares the fans

This was the shocking scene: In a regular match on August 3, T1 and GenG faced each other and although T1 started strong, GenG was able to turn the match around.

Faker then lost control, hit his head against a partition wall 4 times, then he quickly recovered and hit his head against the wall a 5th time, visibly harder, before teammate Gumaysui was able to stop him.

Commentators saw the clip as a sign of the enormous pressure that LoL professionals are now under.

“I received my university degree with honors only because of you”

These are the reactions: In the days that followed, the hashtag “#We_Stand_For-Faker” was established on the Internet, under which LCK fans expressed their support for Faker.

In numerous posts, people assure how much T1 and Faker mean to them:

  • One girl writes that she graduated with honors from one of the best universities in Vietnam and that she only managed it because of Faker. He and T1 saved her from the “darkest time of her life.”

“You treat other people so gently – but not yourself”

  • Another fan asks Faker: “Don’t hurt yourself. We all love you. You treat other people so gently, but not yourself. Take care of yourself.”
  • A third fan said: “I am so proud of you and I admire you. Please smile more. I like your smile. Trust in yourself, we will always stand behind you and support you. You deserve more than this.”
  • “I know you’re under a lot of dirt, even though you always try to be the best. Please, take good care of yourself. I hope you don’t forget your own worth and don’t forget to believe in yourself. I’ll always stay by your side.”
  • “We love you Faker, win or lose. Please be gentle with yourself.”
  • Faker was especially honored by Riot Games in 2024 after he ended a long dry spell and won the Worlds again in 2023, for the fourth time. The honor he received is also viewed critically, however, because Riot Games went all out on commercialism and dedicated an incredibly expensive skin to him: Faker sells items worth 10 annual salaries of normal people in one hour – would never use his €450 skin himself
