With the live-action series One Piece, Netflix broke the curse of bad anime adaptations last year. However, the successful live-action adventure only adapted a fraction of Eiichiro Oda’s manga series and the associated anime series, which is still not finished after 25 years and over 1,100 episodes.
In season 2, Luffy and his pirate gang go to the Grand Line for the first time, where they explore all sorts of new islands and characters – including fan favorite Chopper. In this article you will find all the important information until the start of the new season:

Launch on Netflix: When is One Piece Season 2 coming?
Like so many current series, the Hollywood strikes also interfered with work on the One Piece sequel. After a few delays, production of season 2 began in South Africa in the summer of 2024. Filming is scheduled to last until December 2024.

Due to the complex post-production and the many special effects, it will take a little longer until the start. With a bit of luck, the second season of One Piece could towards the end of 2025 on Netflix If the post-processing takes longer, a launch in 2026 would also be possible.
From Chopper to Smoker: The cast of One Piece Season 2
The five Straw Hat Pirates are of course back in season 2 and are portrayed by their well-known actors Iñaki Godoy (Monkey D. Luffy), Emily Rudd (Nami), Taz Skylar (Sanji), Mackenyu (Roronoa Zoro) and Jacob Gibson (Lysop).

Plot and template: What happens next in One Piece season 2 on Netflix?
The first season of One Piece was dedicated to the so-called East Blue Saga and was based on the first 53 anime episodes and 100 manga chapters. The second season will most likely be based on the Alabasta Saga, which spans 117 chapters in the manga and 74 episodes in the anime.
In season 2, after a detour via Loguetown, the Straw Hats finally make it to the Grand Line. There are some exciting places that fans know from manga and anime. These include Rivers Mountain, Whiskey Peak, Little Garden, the winter island of Drumm and of course the desert state of Alabasta.
During their first Grandline adventure, the young pirate crew in the original meets both new allies – two of whom even join the Straw Hat Pirates in the future – and new enemies when they get caught up in the machinations of the Baroque Company and Conspiracies in the desert state of Alabasta get involved.
Is there already a trailer for the second season of One Piece?
Unfortunately, there is no real image material for the new episodes yet. A first trailer is not expected until next year.
On September 16, 2024, Netflix will once again present numerous upcoming series and film projects as part of the Geeked Week event – including One Piece Season 2. It is not yet known whether there will be a first teaser or pictures of the upcoming episodes.
