SL owes its passengers almost a quarter of a million kroner. This after changing the ticket system in April 2023, when the access cards at the time were loaded with a total of around 230 million in travel funds. The cards then became invalid, and the money likewise unusable.
Since then, barely a tenth of the debt has been paid back to customers. It was Mitt i first to report on.
– It is not good that travelers are lying around with money with us, says Claes Keisu on SL to TV4.

Millions of SL cards – few get in touch to get money back
The debt comes from money that travelers loaded the blue cards with before they became invalid. But despite SL running several information campaigns, few customers have contacted to get their money back.
According to Claes Keisu, the debt is assumed to affect millions of SL cards. He tells TV4 that many are presumably unaware that they have money to withdraw.
– It could be that people have lost the card, they are forgotten or thrown away. Or there are only small slips left on the card that you don’t feel are worth the trouble, says Claes Keisu.

95 percent of the pot remains
Currently, a total of 105,092 travelers have received their money back. But still 95 percent of the pot remains. The money will remain with SL for a total of ten years, then the money will be SL’s.
As a traveller, you therefore have ten years to rattle off an old SL card and request the return of any travel allowance.
Prompts customers to find their cards
Fewer and fewer get in touch and want their money back. In April 2023, 16,000 customers got their money back, but in July this year, the corresponding figure was just under 4,000 people.
– You need to find your card to get the money back, which we encourage. We should not be a bank, Claes Keisu tells TV4.
