After a great morning, many finals will take place this Thursday evening with French athletes involved.

  • Another evening of finals at the Stade de France! Louise Maraval and Hilary Kpatcha will try to win an Olympic medal in the 400m hurdles and long jump. After her debut this morning in the heptathlon, Auriana Lazraq-Khlass will end the day with the 200m. The men’s 200m and 110m hurdles finals will liven up the end of the evening.

  • The evening started well for French athletics! In the semi-final of the women’s 1500m, Agathe Guillemot qualified for the Olympic final by breaking the French record. Back in the heptathlon, Auriana Lazraq-Khlass threw 13.69m in the shot put.

  • No double for Noah Lyles! The American was dethroned by Botswana’s Letsile Tebogo who won Olympic gold in the 200m and became the first African Olympic champion in the history of the distance. Lyles won bronze behind Kenneth Bednarek.

Agathe Guillemot finished 6th in her semi-final, beating her personal best (3’56″69). The Frenchwoman will be present in the final of the Olympic Games. In her race, Ethiopian Diribe Welteji finished 1st ahead of Australian Jessica Hull, 2nd.

The selection of the French team for the Olympic Games

The final selection of the list of athletes participating in the athletics events will be published on July 8, 2024 (May 14 for the marathon). However, some athletes have already achieved the Olympic minimums and should be part of the list, which allows a maximum of three athletes per discipline. 50% of the places will be allocated by the minimums, and 50% via the world ranking.
