“I found him in diapers”

Armand Duplantis has written powerful sports history in Paris.
“Mondo” won another Olympic gold and broke another world record.
But now the father, Greg Duplantis, reveals something that few know about the record-breaking son.

It was on Monday that the entire Olympics stopped to enjoy Armand Duplanti’s show. The world’s best pole vaulters offered a great sporting display and entertainment at the very highest level in front of a boiling Stade de France with 80,000 euphoric spectators.

– Mondo was only around two years old, still in diapers. Me and Helena were in our kitchen, which leads to a garage with a gate out to the front. The door was clearly open and he slips out, says Greg in the interview.
– Suddenly he is like 4-6 meters up in the air in a tree. In just diapers. Then a woman passes by who calls the police and says that there is “a baby up in the tree”. And the police come home to our house…

The mother Helena Duplantis then fill in:
– Yes, but there was another reason why she called the police. Because it was freezing outside so she was quite accusatory towards us, she admits.
– You should have answered that he has Scandinavian blood in him and will become the world’s best pole vaulter, so he has to adapt to the high altitudes…, say the presenters with a laugh.
