Participating in a special television broadcast in the capital Caracas, Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro showed his phone’s screen to the cameras and deleted the WhatsApp application live on air.
CALL TO THE PUBLIC TO ‘DELETE’
Maduro said that soldiers and police officers, as well as community leaders, were being threatened by WhatsApp, and for this reason he asked the public to delete WhatsApp voluntarily and gradually.
Meeting with representatives of the fishing and agriculture sectors at the Miraflores Presidential Palace in the capital Caracas, Maduro made a new assessment of the agenda.

Maduro said, “WhatsApp has handed over the list it has in Venezuela to Colombian drug traffickers for espionage activities. This social application is waging a psychological war. It threatens social leaders, soldiers, police, artists and athletes who do not speak out in favor of the coup and violence.”
“I called on people to voluntarily leave WhatsApp and move to other networks,” Maduro said, recommending Venezuelans to use the WeChat and Telegram applications.
Meta, which includes platforms such as WhatsApp, Facebook, Instagram and Messenger, did not make a statement on the issue.
Maduro said that despite the unfair economic embargoes and difficulties imposed on Venezuela, they have achieved miraculous successes in agricultural production.
“GONZALEZ IS WORSE THAN GUAIDO”
Criticizing opposition coalition candidate Edmundo Gonzalez, Maduro said: “He is a criminal and a fascist. Since the day of the elections, he sent a group of young people to set things on fire, but he himself has been in hiding. The Supreme Court legally summoned him and he was obliged to go, but he did not go. Now he is worse than Guaido (former opposition leader Juan Guaido).”
