New shooter like Battlefield starts strong on Steam, already has 18,000 players in the alpha

The shooter “Delta Force Hawk Ops” has now started an alpha test on Steam. The game is very reminiscent of Battlefield, but has already overtaken EA’s flagship game.

Which shooter is it? Delta Force Hawk Ops is an upcoming free-to-play shooter that reminds many players of Battlefield even before its release. It features large maps, vehicles, PvP with up to 64 players, and building destruction.

The game is divided into three different gameplay areas:

  • A PvP multiplayer mode in the style of Battlefield
  • An extraction mode like DMZ from CoD
  • A campaign that lets you replay the events of the rescue mission “Black Hawk Down”
  • There is currently another alpha test running for Delta Force Hawk Ops, for which you can register on the shooter’s website. The alpha test started on August 6th. On the same day, the shooter already had 18,500 players (via SteamDB). Delta Force even surpassed its major genre competitor Battlefield 2042, which peaked at 15,000 players in August (via SteamDB).

What exactly makes the shooter special? Delta Force Hawk Ops is very reminiscent of Battlefield, especially in the large multiplayer PvP mode. There, up to 64 players compete against each other in two teams of 32 players on expansive maps. Various vehicles such as armored vehicles, boats and helicopters are at their disposal.

There is also an Extraction mode in which you collect resources and eliminate boss enemies on a map, either solo or in squads of up to 3 players. There are four classes with unique accessories and equipment available to you. You can also customize your weapons and freely choose your attachments. The same applies to your armor and the type of ammunition.

Thirdly, there will be a campaign in which you can re-enact the events of the rescue mission “Black Hawk Down” and see scenes from the film of the same name.

Here is an overview of the game content:
