Following the detention of two people in Austria on the grounds that they were sympathizers of the terrorist organization ISIS and were planning a terrorist attack on American singer Taylor Swift’s concert, organizers announced that Swift’s three concerts in the capital Vienna, scheduled for tomorrow, Friday and Saturday, have been cancelled.

“Following government officials confirming that a terrorist attack is planned at the Ernst Happel Stadium, we have no choice but to cancel three planned shows for everyone’s safety,” Barracuda Music said in a statement, adding that audience tickets will be refunded.

Austrian Director General of Public Security Franz Ruf said at a press conference that a 19-year-old suspect with links to ISIS was detained in the Lower Austria region, about an hour from the capital Vienna, in the early hours. “We have determined that the 19-year-old perpetrator was focusing on Taylor Swift concerts in Vienna,” Ruf said, adding that chemical substances were seized from the suspect’s home. A second person believed to be in contact with the suspect was also detained in Vienna. According to initial investigation findings, both suspects were identified as sympathizers of the terrorist organization via the internet.
On the other hand, in November 2020, an armed attack was carried out in the center of Vienna by an ISIS sympathizer, in which 4 people lost their lives and 23 people were injured. (İHA)
