Hurricane Debby which subsided into a tropical storm left

The slow-moving storm has brought rain and flooding in Florida and Georgia.

Tropical Storm Debby has continued its journey to Georgia and South Carolina after wreaking havoc in Florida.

The storm has killed at least six people and caused flooding in the southeastern United States. States along the Atlantic coast up to Virginia have declared a state of emergency to streamline relief efforts.

Debby made landfall in Florida as a Category 1 hurricane on Monday. Meteorologists say that Debby’s destructive power has not been in the wind but in large amounts of rain.

The storm is expected to cause more flooding and spawn tornadoes as it moves very slowly off the Atlantic coast states toward the northeast. In this case, local rainfall increases to a large extent.

The historic cities of Savannah and Charleston have already received a maximum of 30 centimeters of rain and are forecast to receive over 60 centimeters of rain in the coming days.

The eye of the storm is expected to return from the ocean back to shore in South Carolina on Thursday.
