After a holiday period with late nights and early mornings, it can take several days for the body to adjust to a new circadian rhythm, according to the sleep researcher Christian Benedict with whom P4 Stockholm has spoken.
– What you can do is postpone your meals to an earlier time, so don’t have breakfast until 12 o’clock but perhaps at 9 or 10 so that you eventually help the body back with the help of meals.
He also recommends physical activity.
– Get up in the morning, expose yourself to daylight even if you haven’t managed to prepare for this transition from holiday to everyday life, says Christian Benedict to P4 Stockholm.
