  • Iran: No one arrested for the attack in Tehran

    No one has yet been arrested for the crime in Iran’s capital Tehran where Hamas political leader Ismail Haniya was killed, Iran’s judiciary says.

    The investigation has been started and results will be announced as soon as there is something to share, says judicial spokesperson Asghar Jahangir.

    Both Iran and the terrorist group Hamas blame Israel for the attack last Wednesday. Ismail Haniya was in Tehran in connection with the installation of the country’s new president.

    Much is still unclear about Haniya’s death. According to Iran’s Revolutionary Guard, Haniya was killed by a “short-range projectile”. Earlier there were reports that the Hamas leader was killed by a bomb smuggled into his room in Tehran.

  • Israeli finance minister: Right to starve Gazans

    Israel’s far-right Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich said during a conference on Monday that it may be the “right and moral” thing to starve two million Gazans to death until Israeli hostages held in Gaza are released, but that the world will not allow them to do so, writes Haaretz.

    Speaking about Israel’s decision to allow humanitarian aid into Gaza, the far-right minister said a deal with Hamas would endanger Israel and lead to the release of the hostages.

  • Another employee has died between shifts at Northvolt

    During the year, three people who were employed at Northvolt died inexplicably between their work shifts at the factory in Skellefteå.

    In July, the police were alerted to another death and an “acute illness” at the battery factory in Skellefteå, the police write on their website.

    – The person worked at the same workplace with has died outside the workplace, says Patrik Åström who works with the investigation.

    The environmental crime group in the North police region is investigating possible connections. No preliminary investigation has been launched and there are no criminal suspicions.

    The police have not been able to determine what caused any of the incidents and are still waiting for analyses.

    Britain deploys 6,000 special police to fight the riots raging in the country, writes TT.

    During the night, violent riots continued in Belfast and Plymouth where protesters threw stones and petrol bombs at the police.

    Since the riots started, almost 400 people have been arrested. Six people were arrested in Plymouth on Monday evening and several police officers were injured, the BBC reports.

    A man has been found dead in custody at Hinseberg over the weekend, writes Nerikes Allehanda.

    Relatives have been notified.

    The staff has received crisis support and the Probation Service is to investigate what has happened.

    – What happened is extremely tragic. As far as we can see, our routines have been followed, the investigation will have to show whether we could have done something differently, says head of detention Maria Herlitz to the newspaper.

  • The prosecutor: The man is suspected of having drowned

    The 71-year-old man who was found dead in Gothenburg’s archipelago this weekend is suspected of having drowned, the prosecutor says.

    – The two men traveled together in a trimaran. Passengers on a passing boat saw the victim in the water and raised the alarm. The 71-year-old’s body was recovered and he was pronounced dead in hospital, the suspicion is that he has been drowned. Now we are holding supplementary interrogations, conducting technical examinations and awaiting autopsy reports, says senior prosecutor Maria Thorell, who is leading the investigation, in a statement.

    The suspect has been arrested on suspicion of murder. Both the victim and the suspect are from Germany.

  • Source: Four Hezbollah fighters killed in Israeli attack

    Three Hezbollah members are said to have been killed in Israel’s attack on the town of Mayfadun in southern Lebanon on Monday, Adressavisen reports with reference to the AFP news agency.

    A total of four people died in the attack that took place on a residential building. One of the dead was a medical worker, according to the Lebanese Ministry of Health.

    An anonymous Lebanese security source told AFP that all four were Hezbollah members. Hezbollah has not commented on the incident.

  • Man who stabbed boy in subway charged

    In June, a teenage boy was stabbed in the subway in Stockholm, now the perpetrator is charged with attempted murder.

    According to the prosecution, the man had hate crime motives.

    The boy was stabbed in the back but managed to escape when the subway stopped in Slussen.

  • Petrol below SEK 18 – lowest since January

    The major fuel chains continue to lower the price of petrol.

    The target price of 95-octane petrol at manned stations is reduced by 25 öre to SEK 17.94 per liter – the lowest price per liter since mid-January.

    The diesel price is reduced by the same amount to SEK 17.54 per litre.

    The price of biodiesel (HVO100) is reduced by 40 öre to 20.34 kroner per litre, while the price of ethanol is reduced by 25 öre to 14.44 kroner.

    The price of vehicle gas is left unchanged.
