Carl Bengtström is ready for the semi-finals in the 400 meter hurdles at the Olympics.
The 24-year-old won his heat in the re-qualification, with the two fastest in each heat advancing to the semi-finals.
Bengtström ran in 48.63, which was the fastest of all in the requalification.
“There is always more to give”
In Monday’s test, Bengtström came fourth in his heat with a time of 49.34.
I wasn’t turned on enough yesterday, and I hate trying. I saw this more as a chance to move on and then I’ll get out better.
The semi-finals take place on Wednesday evening.
There is always more to give. I was really sorry for myself yesterday, but it’s nice to recharge now, everything is open tomorrow. There’s a lot to pick up. It’s the Olympics, it’s just driving, it has to make or break, says Bengtström.
Erlandsson to semi in 200 meters
Requalification was also run by the shooting star Erik Erlandsson – where he was responsible for a huge shock. He too secured a semi-final place when he finished first in the 200 meters in a new personal best of 20.49.
The semi-finals in 200 meters will take place on Wednesday evening at 20:00.
