NVIDIA Blackwell GPUs Release Delayed

NVIDIA GeForce RTX 50 Series Rumor

NVIDIA’s Blackwell GPUs have been delayed due to design flaws. The delay could negatively impact the company’s 2024 and 2025 shipment targets.

NVIDIA’s new Blackwell GPUs have been delayed due to flaws discovered during the design phase. We’ll have to wait a bit longer to see NVIDIA’s latest Blackwell GPUs. According to sources, the Blackwell GPUs are being delayed by a few months due to a design flaw discovered during the sampling phase. According to The Information (via Bloomberg ), NVIDIA has started sampling some units, although it has yet to officially announce a release date for the Blackwell. However, the delay has been communicated to Microsoft and NVIDIA’s other major partners for datacenter GPUs.

NVIDIA Blackwell GPUs May Launch Delayed

Reports indicate that Blackwell will need to re-evaluate the chip design, re-validate it, and then move it into production. The longer this process takes, the larger shipments of Blackwell chips are not expected until the first quarter of 2025. This delay also coincides with the release date of the next-generation GeForce graphics cards.

The delay, which has an uncertain impact on NVIDIA’s gaming-focused products, could also negatively impact the company’s 2024 shipment targets. The company had planned to ship close to half a million GPUs in 2024 and 1.5 million to 2 million in 2025. Considering that each B100 GPU sells for $30,000-$35,000 and the GB200 for $60,000-$70,000, this delay could lead to a significant loss of revenue in its Q4 2024 financial report.
