  • Norwegian police chief: Afraid that the Swedish gangs’ methods will be copied

Swedish gang criminals are found in all Norwegian police districts, Norwegian police tell Ekot.

Swedish criminal networks in particular have become an increasing threat in Norway, Norwegian police have warned about before. Now there is great concern that the Norwegian gang-related violence will be escalated.

    – I am very worried about the cooperation that Swedish and Norwegian criminals have across the border. I am worried that Swedish gang crime will establish itself here on its own. I am also afraid that Norwegian criminals will copy the Swedish criminals’ methods, for example the recruitment of very young people, says Kristin Kvigne, head of the Norwegian National Criminal Police to Ekot.

The focus, according to Kristin Kvigne, is now on breaking the new recruitment of children and young people to the networks. The police do this by, among other things, counteracting the romanticization of gangster life.

    – Gangster life is glorified and we have to work against that in a larger perspective, says Karin Kvigne.

Norwegian police have previously stated that both the Foxtrot network and the Gottsunda network have established themselves in Norway. Among other things, close ties have been seen between local actors and Swedish networks.
