What will be the fate of Instagram? Time is running out after BTK’s decision

What will be the fate of Instagram Time is running

Access to the social media platform Instagram in Turkey was blocked yesterday morning. While it was not known why the access block was imposed at first, a statement was made by Minister of Transport and Infrastructure Abdulkadir Uraloğlu in the following hours.

CATALOGUE CRIME STATEMENT FROM MINISTER URALOĞLU

Minister Uraloğlu had said, “Despite all our latest warnings, there is a framework we call catalogue crimes, we warned them within that framework; since we did not find the necessary response, we imposed an access ban. We will lift the access ban when the parties that do not comply with our law, the mentioned deficiencies are resolved and our sensitivities are met.”

WILL INSTAGRAM BE OPENED?

According to the decision taken by BTK ex officio, a court order must be obtained within 48 hours to permanently close Instagram. This period expires around 03:00 on August 4. If there is no court order within this period, the access ban will be lifted and access to the platform will be reopened.

COURT DECISION MAY BE OVERRIDED

According to the news on CNBC-E, it is argued that if the reason for the closure is within the scope of catalogue crimes, the necessity of a court order is eliminated.
