The shooting sports coaching team will be renewed after the Paris Games, says Ville Häyrinen, director of shooting sports association.

The entire training of Finnish shooting sports is being renewed. The Shooting Sports Association either makes extension contracts or surveys new coaches, Ville Häyrinen describes.
– The trap coaching situation is a really big question in addition to skeet. We have some very good applicants for the trap. I believe we will find a solution to that, he says.
Häyrinen is the director of the shooting team that competed in the Paris Olympics and the director of the coaching of the Shooting Sports Association.
Trap’s head coach Leslie Goddard resigned from his position due to personal reasons in February of last year. Has temporarily handled the position of head coach Pekka Maunula.

– Contract offers (for Genga) will certainly come from elsewhere. We have to think about what we can offer and what Pietro wants. It’s not just about the money, there are also many other influencing factors, says Häyrinen.
Master Rifle and Pistol Trainer John Leighton-Dyson will continue to wash for at least the next two years.
Häyrinen states that there are not too many applicants for coaching positions. Häyrinen says that he is a little worried about the small number of Finnish applicants.
– There are very few domestic shooting coaches who want to work at the national team level. There are quite good foreign options, but with a small union we will have to look at the realities at some point, what we can invest in and how much.
Trap coach Pietro Genga tells Urheilu that a possible extension will be agreed upon in September.
– It would be a pleasure to continue with the team. It’s not easy to find such a young team with a lot of power and always capable of their best. We are trying to find a common understanding.
