A man in his 40s is accused of robbing and raping prostituted women in the Stockholm area.

According to the prosecutor, the man used a knife to threaten the women during the abuse.

It was between December 7 last year and February 15 this year that five different prostituted women were subjected to abuse and robbery in the Stockholm area, according to the lawsuit submitted by prosecutor Anders Hirsch to the Solna district court.

Two of the women were subjected to serious rape and threatened with a knife. A “modus” which, according to Anders Hirsch, has been recurring in the deeds.

– Some form of weapon is used in all cases. As it appears from the lawsuit, it is a knife in four cases and a gun-like object in one case, says Anders Hirsch.

Suited meeting

The man must have come into contact with the women through various prostitution and escort sites. After they established contact, he must have gone there and met the various women, according to Anders Hirsch.

He was arrested in February and has been in custody since then. According to Anders Hirsch, the investigation has “grown gradually”.

– At the beginning of the case, we did not know that there were as many plaintiffs as five, but at the beginning it was only a small number. Then there were more afterwards.

– You had a phone number to start from, which had been used by this man and with that number as a starting point, you could trace him.

The man denies all wrongdoing.

Similar cases have been prosecuted

During the year, attention has been drawn to several cases in which prostituted women were subjected to robbery and abuse. In February, a 29-year-old man was sentenced to four years and six months in prison for aggravated robbery and attempted aggravated robbery against prostituted women.

According to the verdict, he made contact with the women under the pretext of buying sex and instead robbed them of cash and valuables at gunpoint and knifepoint.

In April, a 16-year-old boy was also sentenced to closed youth care for aggravated rape, buying sex and two cases of robbery of prostitutes.
