Inter kept the door open to the upper secondary series

Turku Inter beat IFK Mariehamn 3–0 on Friday.

Turku Inter captured the important three points in the men’s football league, when the team defeated IFK Mariehamn 3–0 at their home field on Friday. The victory brought Turku to within two points of the top six, and at the same time the hopes of a place in the upper continuation series were preserved.

The final games of Inter’s regular season are not easy, however, as they will face the current top three in the series. For Mariehamn, the loss was already the fifth in a row, and the team’s situation at the tail end of the series is challenging.

Darren Smith gave the home team the lead with a penalty kick at the end of the opening period. Turku’s second goal was scored by the artist Timo Stavitskiand the final figures were sealed by the 16-year-old Djoully Nzoko.

– In the second period, the game clearly turned for us when we were able to play with superiority, Nzoko referred to IFK Patrik Raitanen to drive out.

Inter head coach Vesa Vasara had calmed down after the game.

– The numbers are a little flattering, because the game was not easy. Now we are moving forward one match at a time and aiming for a place in the upper secondary series, Vasara summed up.
