On Thursday, a virtual vote began among the party’s 3,900 delegates. The vote was expected to last until Monday, but already during Friday it was clear that a majority of the delegates expressed their support for Harris.
Kamala Harris has taken over the role of the party’s presumptive presidential candidate after President Joe Biden announced a week ago that he is dropping out of the presidential race.
Harris is expected to announce who will be her running mate within the next few days. In three weeks, she is expected to accept the nomination as the party’s presidential candidate at the Democratic convention in Chicago.
