Worker dies after fall at Brantford manufacturing facility

The Ministry of Labour, Immigration, Training and Skills Development is investigating after a worker died from a fall at Konstant, a Brantford manufacturing facility, on July 25.

Randy Wronzberg, president of Konstant, which has a facility on Adams Boulevard, said the contracted worker was doing roof work at the site.

“It was very traumatic for everyone on staff at the factory,” said Wronzberg. “We are cooperating with the investigation 100 per cent.”

Ministry spokesperson Manuel Alas-Sevillano said the worker’s employer is Ultimate Roofing Systems and the constructor is Erie Garage Doors Inc.

Alas-Sevillano said two ministry inspectors, an engineer and an ergonomist attended the scene. He said three orders and one requirement were issued to Erie Garage Doors; two orders and one requirement were issued to Ultimate Roofing Systems; and two orders and one requirement were issued to Konstant.

Konstant manufactures warehouse racking and has about 180 employees at the Brantford facility.

Alas-Sevillano said no further information is being released while the ministry investigation continues.
