A man is arrested, suspected of murder.

It was during early Thursday afternoon that the Maritime Rescue Society, the Maritime Administration and the Coast Guard rushed to Gothenburg’s archipelago.

Two boats had collided and three people had ended up in the water. A helicopter and boat participated in a rescue operation that ended with a man being taken to hospital.

During the evening, the police have announced that the man who was taken to hospital has died and a man has been arrested on suspicion of murder.

Suspected murder

The public prosecutor’s office took over the case from the police during the evening. Maria Thorell is leading the case and is being tight-lipped about the investigation due to its early stage.

– What I can say is that both the suspect and the plaintiff seem to be foreign tourists who have been here on a boating holiday, she says.

The two men are said to have been familiar with each other and to be in their 60s and 70s. Relatives are not informed.

During the evening when the incident occurred, a crime scene investigation was completed and the police worked on interviewing witnesses.

– I am not going to comment on the state of the evidence, says Maria Thorell.
