Deadpool Wolverine star complains about his deleted guest appearance

Basically, it was clear since the announcement: Deadpool & Wolverine will be a big cameo parade. Not only can the superhero blockbuster rely on characters from the Marvel Cinematic Universe. entire Fox universe about the X-Men and other forgotten characters is available to the film.

128 minutes of cameo fire were still not enough to fit all the scenes shot into the film. Rob McElhenney also had to realize this when he saw the film in the cinema. The actor known from It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia then spoke out on X (formerly Twitter).

Rob McElhenney filmed a cameo for Deadpool & Wolverine that was cut

In a post, McElhenney expresses his disappointment, at least at first glance. He shares a picture of himself as a TVA agent on set with Wolverine actor Hugh Jackman and explains:

I traveled 6000 miles to film my cameo. I hope you enjoyed it because the cinema I was in had it accidentally cut out. Since I know that Ryan [Reynolds] I wouldn’t put myself through that, I’m looking forward to watching the film and my cameo again today!

It didn’t take long for Marvel fans to use the hashtag #ReleaseTheMcElhenneyCut – an allusion to the movement that has been pushing for the release of the Snyder Cut of Justice League in recent years. But no one seems to be taking the whole thing too seriously.

This may also be due to that McElhenny and Reynolds know each other well: Among other things, they are joint owners of the Welsh football club Wrexham AFC. A look at McElhenny’s social media pages reveals many well-intentioned jabs at Reynolds. It’s quite possible that his cameo disappointment is also meant as a joke.

Deadpool & Wolverine director Shawn Levy promises to save the lost cameo

No matter what McElhenny means by his complaint, it has already become a self-perpetuating prophecy: None other than Shawn Levy, the director of Deadpool & Wolverine, spoke out on Twitter and commented on McElhenney’s post with the following words:

I will personally search the floor of my cutting room to find the Brilliance of this lost footage to restore and share!

Is Levy just continuing McElhenney’s humorous complaint or is he actually planning a extended version of Deadpool & Wolverine? There has been no concrete announcement about this so far. It is also conceivable that a gag reel or a bonus video will be released, which will be revealed during the home cinema release.
