It was the fourth Witches in the Bay organized by Sarnia’s Janka Liska, a paddleboard enthusiast.
About 40 paddleboarders and kayakers, most in witches hats and costumes, gathered at about 6 pm at the kayak launch in Centennial Park to spend time paddling in the Bay while dozens of spectators watched from shore.
A pleasure boat docked across the bay at the marina was decorated for Halloween and paddlers who approached to say “hello” reported back folks there were giving out candy.
“I just really love Halloween,” Liska said previously “I saw a picture of a witch on a paddle board on Pinterest and I was, like, ‘I really want to do that here.’”
Previous events were held in the fall but Liska said she decided to move this year’s to warmer weather.
