Rescue operation in the Gothenburg archipelago – people overboard

Shortly after 11 o’clock the alarm was raised The Coast Guard, the Maritime Rescue Society and the Maritime Administration to Gothenburg’s northern archipelago after an alarm that several people had fallen overboard.
– One person must have fallen from a leisure boat and another person must have fallen in during the rescue operation, says Joanna Paraîso, deputy rescue manager at the Maritime Administration to TV4 Nyheterna.

It was just after 11 a.m. today that a sailboat and a leisure boat collided 2.5 miles outside Rörö in Gothenburg’s northern archipelago.

A man fell overboard during the collision and the Coast Guard, the Maritime Rescue Society and the Maritime Administration were alerted to the scene by plane, boat and helicopter.

The man was taken to hospital in an ambulance helicopter.

– It is an adult man, but I have no information on the age. It is unclear if he has been identified, Caroline Karlsson, press spokesperson for police region West, told TV4 Nyheterna.

The police tell TV4 Nyheterna that the operation is still ongoing and that one of the boats must be towed to shore. In total, at least three people were on the boats.
