Tennis: Iga Swiatek down for the count after a hard hit in the stomach: “She’s fake”

It was in the first game of the third set that it heated up in the quarterfinals. Collins stepped into the court and pressed a hard backhand right into the stomach of Swiatek, who had advanced to the net.

The Pole went down on her knees in severe pain and was attended to by Collins, who crossed over to the other side of the net.

  • – I couldn’t breathe for a few moments and it hurt quite a bit, but with all the adrenaline you don’t feel as much as you should, says Swiatek.

Collins then had to give up due to an abdominal muscle injury and gave the Polish world number one a boot which she believes lessened her injury.

“Something else is happening in the dressing room”

    – She didn’t have to be fake about my injury. There is a lot that happens in front of the camera and something else that happens in the dressing room. I don’t need this fakeness,” Collins, who will retire after this season, told the AP.

When a reporter asked what they talked about after the game, Collins replied.

    – You’d better ask her.

Collins also criticized the organizer for not serving the players and having too hot water in the 36 degree heat which left her dehydrated.

    – It was almost like I collapsed after the match and I was under medical control for three hours. I had convulsions from my neck down to my toes and had heatstroke, says Collins.
