Hamas’s top leader Ismail Haniyeh killed

The terrorist organization confirms the death and blames Israel.

63-year-old Ismail Haniyeh, who is based in Qatar, was in Iran on the occasion of the country’s new president being sworn in. That’s when his residence in Tehran was hit in an attack.

Haniyeh’s bodyguard is also said to have been killed in the attack.

Iran did not provide details on how Haniyeh was killed but said it is under investigation, according to the Revolutionary Guards.

Ismail Haniyeh was Hamas’s political leader and an important player in the peace negotiations, writes the New York Times.
