A 29-year-old Chatham-Kent man is charged with uttering threats after a homeowner was threatened Monday, Chatham-Kent police say.

Officers went to Canterbury Street in Chatham on Monday just before 10:30 am to investigate reported threats, where they learned a man had approached a homeowner without provocation and threatened to harm him, police said.

Police said the suspect was located and arrested a short distance away. Charged with uttering threats, he was released and is to appear in court on the charge Sept. 9, police said.

Prohibited driver flees police, found with suspected fentanyl

A man prohibited from driving was arrested after trying to flee from police and being found with suspected fentanyl, Chatham-Kent police say.

An officer on a patrol around 1:30 am Tuesday was alerted by an automatic license plate reader, a scanning tool police use, and pulled a driver over on Lacroix Street in Chatham, police said. The vehicle stopped on Emma Street and the driver tried to flee on foot.

A man taken into custody was found with suspected fentanyl while being searched during his arrest, police. The suspect had been banned from driving because of convictions for driving offenses, police said.

A 35-year-old Chatham man was held pending a bail hearing after being charged with driving while under suspension, six counts of operating a motor vehicle while banned from doing so and possession of a controlled substance, police said.

Police catch up to Tilbury assault suspect in Chatham

Wanted by police for an assault in Tilbury on July 16, a suspect was apprehended by police nearly two weeks later in Chatham.

Police said they investigated a disturbance on Young Street in Tilbury on the morning of July 16, in which one man was struck by another during an argument that led to physical injuries. An arrest warrant was issued for a male suspect who left before police arrived. The wanted man was located on Grand Avenue East in Chatham just before 10 am Monday and arrested, police said.

Taken to police headquarters and held for a bail hearing, the man damaged equipment while in custody, police said. He’s now charged with assault and mischief.
