The entire golf world cheers loudly at the announcement of Ludvig Åberg in the Olympics – the great joy of the Swedish hope when he hears it: “Nice!”

Ludvig Åberg makes his Olympic debut on Thursday.
Now comes the news that makes him rejoice.
– Nice!, he says.

Things have gone very quickly for Ludvig Åberg. It was only last summer that he turned pro, and if there were any question marks about whether he was ready for it, it was quickly cleared up that he undeniably was. Åberg has been a smash hit and has become a big favorite with many golf watchers over the past year.

Big medal hope

He made history during the Ryder Cup when he made his debut in the prestigious competition without even having played a single major before. The debut in a major context came in April earlier this year, at the fabled Augusta National, where he finished second at the US Masters. Åberg has subsequently managed to succeed in the US Open as well, but recently he comes from The Open, which was a disappointment.

However, Åberg has said that there are no problems with his form when he enters his very first Olympic tournament on Thursday. Åberg is Sweden’s representative together with Alex Norén, and there are good hopes of a medal for the sensation. But there is stiff competition. The world’s best golfers are gathered, and in the United States there are almost a handful of players who can all win majors on their day, and above all the superior world number one Scottie Scheffler.

The message that makes him cheer

On Tuesday, however, there was a message that Ludvig Åberg would have liked. When the groups that play together were announced on Tuesday, Åberg could see his name together with the aforementioned Scottie Scheffler, and Rory McIlroy. Both Scheffler and McIlroy are among the sport’s biggest and most popular, so it’s not bad company for Åberg during his first two days.

– Yes, I just saw it. Nice! says Åberg to Aftonbladet.

Ludvig Åberg is aware that it is the toughest possible opposition, but there is nothing wrong with his confidence before the competitions.

– It is very tough competition, many of the world’s top players are here. On the other hand, I know my own ability and what I can do on a golf course. I am very confident in my own clothes and look forward to having a good competition week, he says.
