Swimmer Matti Mattsson had to be disappointed in the Olympic pool in Paris, as he missed the preliminaries in the 200m breaststroke. The Pori swimmer was the 18th fastest in the preliminaries, while the 16 fastest made it to the semifinals.
Mattsson said that he considered his performance in the Games to be a failure, because being in the heats was naturally not what the bronze medalist of the previous Olympics left Paris to get.
Immediately after the preliminary swim, the Finn could not say the reason for his laziness.
– It was pretty bad (performance). I don’t really know what was wrong with it, why it didn’t start. Yes, training gives you a lot more to look forward to.
Mattson started the race well and led his heat half way through. He recently could not find a reason why the second hundred “was left in the pipe”.
– My mind is pretty empty.
The Paris Olympics are the fourth Olympics in 30-year-old Mattsson’s career.
– I haven’t thought about the continuation yet, and I have to think about it for a long time. Let’s take it one day at a time. I thought about taking my daughter to school next.
