dragonflies take over beach

Beachgoers in Rhode Island were enjoying the nice weather Saturday when they suddenly got an unexpected sight: a huge swarm of dragonflies took over Misquamicut Beach.

The swarm reportedly looked like a “black cloud” and caused many sunbathers to leave the beach, local media reports.

The invasion lasted for almost five minutes, says a beach visitor CNN.

“Just Enjoy”

Rhode Island dragonfly expert Ginger Brown says CBS news that dragonflies are known to migrate if their natural habitats such as swamps and marshes dry out.

And should you get caught in a swarm of dragonflies yourself, you have no reason to be afraid.

“Just enjoy the phenomenon,” she said. “They have excellent vision, they won’t fly into your face”.
